Youth Mental Health First Aid
This course is ideal for anyone who wants to better understand how to recognize and respond to signs of mental health challenges in youth and adolescents. No prior experience is required.
Participants will learn how to:

Recognize early signs of mental health and substance use challenges in young people

Respond to crises such as panic attacks, suicidal thoughts, or aggressive behaviors

Use the ALGEE Action Plan to provide safe, effective support

Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. The steps to complete the training:
1. Register for your session to save your seat.
2. Complete the 2 hour self-paced online modules at least 24 hours prior to your scheduled session.
3. Attend the full ONLINE instructor-led event (must have comeria on during the entire video conference).
4. Complete the post course online modules.
5. Veiw, Print, Share your certificate of completion.
6. Renew your training in 3 years.
